Today Russia celebrates for the 70th time the holiday of people who with their own hands build cities and parks, erect bridges and skyscrapers, and create a roof over our heads – Builder’s Day.
The holiday was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on September 6, 1955, with the initiative led by the First Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Nikita Khrushchev. This became a recognition of the colossal role of builders in the country’s post-war recovery and the extensive construction of those years.
The Builder’s Day was celebrated for the first time on August 12, 1956, timed to coincide with the opening of the Central Lenin Stadium (now “Luzhniki”).
Today, we send warm wishes and congratulations specifically to the Department of Economics and Management in Construction at the State University of Management – the first department in the country dedicated to organization and economics of construction, which has been training true professionals for over 95 years. Graduates of this department possess a unique skill set: they study both the technology of performing work, the intricacies of financial project modeling, land law, and real estate management.
We wish everyone involved in construction a solid foundation in all their endeavors, reliable partners, and successful project completions. May the buildings you create bring comfort and safety to people, and may your career steadily rise!
