On the weekend of August 8 and 9, the project “Moscow Estates” organizes “Summer Journey. Moscow — Yasnaya Polyana” in the Tula region. Immersive zone of the “Moscow Estates” festival
The immersive zone of the “Moscow Estate” festival will be located next to the smithy, not far from the Volkonsky House and the stables. On August 8 and 9, from 12:00 to 13:00, a historic picnic “Breakfast on the Grass. Epistolary” on the theme “Tolstoy and Turgenev: a duel?” will take place here, and at 15:00 there will be a theatrical tea party with a lecture “Tea with History.”
The interactive games “Living Pictures,” which will take place from 13:00 to 13:30 and from 17:30 to 18:00, will be dedicated to the work of the artist Nikolai Ge and paintings illustrating scenes from the works of Leo Tolstoy. At 13:30, the literary-historical quiz “Tolstoy’s Moscow: estates, addresses, stories” will begin, and at 16:00, the quiz “Moscow’s Estates” will start.
The literary readings, which will take place from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, will recall the works of Leo Tolstoy, and at 4:30 PM will be supplemented by the writings of Ivan Turgenev and Maxim Gorky.
The retro studio is open all weekend from 10:00 to 18:00, where visitors can try on vintage looks. Guests can also enjoy outdoor games (croquet, ring toss, pickup sticks, lotto) and the estate post office, from where postcards can be sent to loved ones.
On August 8, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts will hold linocut master classes in the smithy (from 12:00 to 13:30, from 14:00 to 15:30, and from 16:00 to 17:30). Each session can accommodate up to 15 people, no registration is required.
A festival will take place on the farmland beyond Chepyzh (forest area) on Saturday “Hunting as Art” with a ceremonial horseback procession accompanied by greyhound dogs, a simulated hunt with trained birds of prey, and workshops on handling bows, sabers, and knives.
Mobile Tourist Center “Moscow”
The mobile tourist center “Moscow” will operate next to the festival’s immersive zone “Mansions of Moscow”. The information center specialists will assist anyone interested from 10:00 to 18:00 in creating a personalized itinerary around the capital, including the project’s events “Summer in Moscow”. At the same time, there will be VR city tours.
Visitors to the olfactory master class (every hour from 10:00, lasting 10 minutes) will get to know the signature tea “Moscow” and try to guess its ingredients. And in the quiz “Literary Moscow” (every hour from 10:30, lasting 10 minutes), participants will be able to test their knowledge of the places where classic authors lived and created.
The summer travels of the “Moscow Estates” festival have already taken place at the A.P. Chekhov museum-reserve “Melikhovo” (June 27), the F.M. Dostoevsky manor museum “Darovoye” (July 4), and the “Gorki Leninskiye” museum-reserve (July 18). After the Yasnaya Polyana manor museum (August 8–9), a regional program is planned at the F.I. Tyutchev museum-reserve “Muranovo Estate” (August 23).
