In Moscow, the historic service building on Potapovsky Lane (house 5, building 12) was restored. Specialists reconstructed its structure and authentic architecture — the brick masonry of the walls and the arched ceiling slabs with Monier corbel vaults. The building was adapted for modern use.
The service building from the 19th — early 20th century is located deep inside the quiet Potapovsky Lane among cozy Moscow courtyards. Although today the building holds the status of a historical and urban planning environment object, Mosgornasledie supported the decision to carry out restoration work on it. This is a good example of an investor preserving a historical building that shapes the unique appearance and vibrant atmosphere of this corner of old Moscow.
The specialists carefully carried out hand scraping and glazing of the brick masonry facades. During the restoration of the walls, 98 percent of the historic brick was preserved. To achieve an authentic appearance, a special firing treatment was applied: each element was individually darkened depending on the required shade.
Specialists strengthened the foundation using injection and building overlay methods, as well as restored the roof while preserving its historic appearance. In addition, they reinforced the façades in the form of arched entrances with lintels characteristic of the first half of the last century, manually restoring the lost and damaged sections of brick wall masonry bearing the stamp of Imperial Russia.

The service building was constructed between 1889 and 1891 based on the design by architect Otto von Dessin. Over different periods, the structure was used for utility purposes, including storing goods, as well as serving as a garage. Soon, this pavilion will experience a new life: it will house infrastructure spaces for the residents of the “von Dessin” building.
