The capital is developing river transport. In 2025, the Moscow shipyard was opened in the Nagatinsky Zaton area. With the opening of the enterprise, about 10 new shipbuilding professions appeared in the capital, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.

“Moscow Shipyard is a high-tech and the most modern enterprise in Russia for the construction and maintenance of electric vessels. Today, about 500 employees work here, including entirely new professions for the city. Specialists provide a full production cycle of innovative river transport with electric traction. At the Moscow shipyard, electric vessels for sightseeing routes, unmanned boats for security and eco-monitoring on the Moscow River, as well as the hybrid cruise ship “Moscow Golden Ring” will be produced. Production of electric vessels of the ‘Moscow 1.0’ project

After assembling and welding the ship hull blocks, there are still many stages of work ahead. Specialists will paint the ships, pull cables, insulate compartments, install panel equipment, auxiliary mechanisms, lay pipelines, and install traction battery packs. They will also carry out work on the propulsion system, which moves the ship. In addition, the workers will arrange technical rooms and compartments, perform finishing work on the floor, and install elements of the cabin and the captain’s bridge.

To enhance the environmental friendliness and energy efficiency of the vessels, it is planned to use energy-saving engines and high-capacity battery packs, allowing for increased operational autonomy. Filtration systems will prevent wastewater discharge into the river.

For the complex and multi-stage shipbuilding process, the enterprise is equipped with the most modern equipment. For example, a CNC laser metal-cutting machine is used for cutting aluminum and stainless steel. The process of shipbuilding begins precisely with the cutting of metal.

A hydraulic press with a capacity of 350 tons is used for shaping sheet metal for ship walls, as well as for bending and twisting profiles on a ship beam.

Another hydraulic press — with numerical program control — has higher precision and an almost complete level of automation. It is used for detailed metal stamping and bending work.

A rolling machine is used for bending metal profiles, pipes, angles, and channels at any angles in a single pass. It operates automatically under operator control.

In a turning machining center, shafts, pipes, and other rotating parts are processed, as well as turned and threaded, and other similar operations are performed.

The four-roll bending hydraulic machine easily bends complex asymmetric metal shapes into spatial products before finishing on a press or sheet bending machine.

On November 26, 2025, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev, and Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin solemnly conducted the keel laying of the lead vessel “Moscow 1.0”, installed a commemorative plaque, and launched the company’s work.

The Moscow shipyard was built in a record 22 months on the orders of Vladimir Putin. The capacity of the new facility allows for the production of up to 40 vessels per year, as well as the servicing and repair of more than 100 vessels annually. More than 500 new jobs have been created for highly skilled professionals.

The full-cycle production includes metal cutting, welding and assembly of hulls, equipping, and launching the vessels into the water. The production is highly automated. Around 50,000 people employed at enterprises in various regions of the country are involved in the supply of components.

The production is completely environmentally friendly and silent. Wastewater treatment systems are used. Solar panels are utilized for additional energy.

In the coming years, the capital plans to purchase about 40 modern electric vessels. They will operate on regular river routes and will become an alternative to other types of transport for city residents and tourists. The Moscow Shipyard will also begin production of a hybrid cruise ship for travel on the water route “Moscow Golden Ring.”

In Nagatinsky Zaton, not only was a high-tech shipyard built, but the territory around it was also landscaped. Places for relaxation, terraces, and spacious walking areas are available for everyone.
