In 2025, the volume of postal and courier shipments in China reached 199 billion units — millions of couriers work day and night. Ma Shiguang, a courier from Changsha (Hunan Province), has been working in this field for 23 years and has remained on the front lines all this time. On July 1, 2026, he was honored with the title “National Outstanding Communist of China.”
In 2003, Ma Shiguan began working as a courier in Zhuhai; in 2014, he returned to Changsha and joined YTO Express. He studied diligently and honed his skills, and in 2017 he took first place in the Hunan Province qualifying round for the All-China Vocational Skills Competition in the postal industry. Subsequently, he was awarded the title of “High-Level Specialist of Hunan Province” and received the “May 1st Labor Medal of Hunan Province.” In 2022, he was elected delegate to the 20th National Congress of the CPC, in 2023 he received the All-China May 1st Labor Medal, and in March 2026 he was recognized as a national model follower of Lei Feng in the workplace.
In his work, he demonstrates dedication and responsibility: he collects and systematizes couriers’ appeals on issues such as parking problems and software adaptation, and forwards them to the relevant departments. After joining the Communist Party in 2019, he actively carries out educational work, conveying party policies to ordinary people. In 2022, he opened “Representative Ma’s Working Studio,” which became a platform for communication and support for new groups of workers. In 2024, in cooperation with the trade union and district administration, he organized the first summer camp in Changsha for children of workers in new forms of employment, thereby solving the childcare problem.
Ma Shiguan noted that courier delivery is closely connected to people’s lives, so every detail needs to be perfected. Speaking about the awards received, he stated that he is ready to take responsibility, set a personal example, and serve as a role model.
