Conakry, July 18 /Xinhua/ — On Friday, the first session of the new composition of the National Assembly of the country was held at the People’s Palace in Guinea’s capital, Conakry, marking the official start of work of the legislature of the 10th convocation.

As a result of the vote, Dansa Kuruma, the former chairman of the National Transitional Council, was elected speaker of the 147-seat National Assembly, receiving 129 votes. 18 votes were declared invalid.
