Tehran, July 18 /Xinhua/ — On Friday evening, explosions were heard in several provinces of Iran after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the start of a new round of strikes against the Islamic Republic, Iranian media reported.
The semi-official news agency Mehr reported that explosions were recorded in the provinces of Bushehr and Hormozgan, but details about targets, casualties, and damage are not yet available.
Meanwhile, the official news agency IRNA reported that five explosions were heard in the central province of Yazd.
On Friday evening, CENTCOM reported on the social network X that it has been carrying out a series of strikes against Iran for the seventh consecutive night, adding that their goal is to “further weaken Iran’s military capabilities.”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced on its official news portal Sepah News on Friday that earlier that day its forces struck a depot in Bahrain storing American unmanned surface vessels and destroyed a significant number of them.
The IRGC added that its retaliatory strikes using missiles and drones were also targeted at the main artificial intelligence center in Bahrain, which was used by the United States to detect targets and commit “war crimes,” and completely destroyed it.
In another statement released on Friday, the IRGC reported that its air defense forces shot down an AeroVironment RQ-11 Raven drone over Ramshir County in the southwestern Khuzestan Province. –0–
