All members of the Russian national team won gold medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad in Colombia.
Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov congratulated the Russian schoolchildren — medalists of the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO).
The Russian team won five gold medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), which took place from July 4 in Colombia. The outstanding achievements of the participants were congratulated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
“Congratulations to our schoolchildren – the winners of the 56th International Physics Olympiad. Each of them rightfully received a gold medal and proved that talent multiplied by hard work becomes the formula for success. I thank the parents and teachers for preparing and supporting the students. The importance of strengthening schoolchildren’s interest in science and engineering activities is emphasized by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. In turn, the Government, within the framework of the national project ‘Youth and Children,’ is carrying out systematic work to realize the potential and develop the talents of the younger generation. And of course, special attention is given to subjects in the natural science profile,” emphasized Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Russian national team included the winners and prizewinners of the All-Russian School Olympiad:
- Alexander Akhremov (Phystech Lyceum named after P.L. Kapitsa),
- Yaroslav Dobrokhvalov (P.L. Kapitsa Phystech Lyceum),
- Artyom Yeremin (Lyceum No. 23, Kaliningrad)
- Ivan Pruglo (School No. 179, Moscow),
- Bogdan Yaytsevsky (P.L. Kapitsa PhysTech Lyceum).
“The team represented Russia with dignity at one of the most prestigious intellectual competitions in the world, which brought together participants from 91 countries. F Physics is among the disciplines that form the foundation for technological leadership. And our President draws attention to the importance of achieving it Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. We attach special importance to the training of qualified personnel in the field of physics. Five gold medals among five participants is convincing proof of the high level of the Russian physics school, the hard work, and the talent of the young people. The path to this day was not easy: selections, intense preparation, and finally the competition rounds in Bucaramanga. We are proud that our country is represented by such a strong team. Special words of gratitude to the mentors — teachers and coaches who helped with the preparation, as well as to the parents whose support was present at every stage. I am confident that the experience gained at the Olympiad will become an important step for you in the great science,” noted the Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.
The Russian delegation at the olympiad was headed by the director of pre-university training at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Vitaly Shevchenko. His deputies are physics teacher at the Kapitsa Physics and Technology Lyceum Anton Vergunov and MIPT representatives Arseny Pikalov, Yaroslav Pozdnyak, and Fyodor Tsybrov.
In 2025, the competition took place in France and brought together participants from 87 countries around the world. Russian schoolchildren won three gold and two silver medals.
