Tehran, July 12 /Xinhua/ — The Iranian Persian Gulf Control Authority announced on Sunday that due to recent “illegal actions” by the US Armed Forces in the region, the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is currently impossible.
The agency announced this on the social media platform X, adding that “as soon as stability and a calm situation are restored, all requests /for passage through the Strait of Hormuz/ will be considered according to the schedule, and the necessary permits will be issued.”
As emphasized by the administration, permission to pass through the strait can only be obtained through the PGSA.ir website.
The U.S. Central Command earlier on Sunday stated on social media platform X that this week, American military forces carried out a third series of strikes on Iran “in response to an attack by Iranian forces on another commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.”
In the early hours of Sunday, the Naval Forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement saying they intercepted a “violating vessel” in the Strait of Hormuz and stopped its movement, having first fired a warning shot. It is alleged that the vessel had turned off its navigation systems.
Later, the IRGC reported that during retaliatory strikes on American bases in the region, its forces attacked and stopped a second “intruding vessel” in the Strait of Hormuz. –0–
