Beijing, July 12 /Xinhua/ — Two separate “red” level warnings—the highest in the four-level warning system—were announced in China on Sunday evening due to the threat of sudden floods and geological disasters amid ongoing heavy rains in several regions of the country.

The “Red” warning of the threat of sudden floods, jointly issued by the Ministry of Water Resources of China and the China Meteorological Administration, indicates a very high likelihood of these natural disasters in certain areas of Liaoning, Jilin, and Anhui provinces from 8:00 PM on July 12 to 8:00 PM on July 13. An “Orange” level warning has been issued for several other regions.

In addition, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the PRC and the China Meteorological Administration have issued a “red” warning about the threat of geological disasters due to a very high risk of landslides and ground collapses in certain areas of Liaoning and Anhui provinces. “Orange” and “yellow” warning levels are in effect in several other areas.

Local authorities have been instructed to enhance real-time monitoring, issue warnings promptly, and activate evacuation plans. The population is advised to remain vigilant and follow official instructions. –0–
