Shanghai, July 7 /Xinhua/ — The production volume of humanoid robots in China is expected to exceed 100,000 units this year, said Gan Xiaobin, deputy director of the Science and Technology Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, on Tuesday.

He made this statement at a press conference for the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), noting that emerging applications and the AI ecosystem in China are driving a rapidly growing robotics industry, providing a powerful impetus for the country’s high-quality development.

According to the deputy director, the penetration level of AI applications in large industrial enterprises in China has exceeded 30 percent. The National Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund is intensifying its activities to channel more social capital into this sector.

Many innovations will be presented during the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026, which will be held in Shanghai from July 17 to 20.

Under the motto “AI Partnership for a Bright Future,” the conference will include six main sections, ranging from forums and exhibitions to innovation incubation and talent exchange. More than 1100 enterprises have registered to participate in the event. It is expected that over 3000 exhibits will be presented during the conference, of which more than 300 products will debut worldwide. -0-
