China and Russia have started joint naval exercises

Qingdao, July 6 /Xinhua/ — The naval forces of China and Russia have commenced joint exercises “Maritime Interaction-2026” at the naval base in the city of Qingdao /Shandong Province, East China/.

A joint command was established, which included operational groups of the navies of the two countries.

The exercises will be conducted in three stages: force assembly, planning at the port, and operations at sea. The force assembly was completed on Sunday.

After the opening ceremony, the Navy forces of the two countries conducted command and tactical coordination exercises. The combined command held in-depth discussions on key issues concerning the maritime phase of the exercises.

At the next stage, the participating warships will go out to sea near Qingdao to conduct exercises in areas such as joint reconnaissance, air defense, missile defense, and training with live weapons.
