Islamabad, July 4 /Xinhua/ — Four security service personnel were killed and 16 others wounded as a result of an explosion of a homemade explosive device near a Pakistan Coast Guard checkpoint in the southwestern province of Balochistan. This was reported on Saturday by official Xinhua sources on condition of anonymity.

According to them, the attack occurred on Friday around 18:40 local time /13:40 GMT/. A truck loaded with explosives crashed into a checkpoint in the city of Jiwani in Gwadar district.

A powerful explosion destroyed the checkpoint building, killing three Pakistan Coast Guard personnel and one soldier of the Pakistan Army on the spot, sources said.

16 security personnel, including eight soldiers of the Pakistan Army and eight Coast Guard staff, were injured; several of them are in critical condition.

The banned terrorist organization “Baloch Liberation Army” has claimed responsibility for the attack. –0–
