Taiyuan, July 4 /Xinhua/ — Two officials responsible for safety supervision at mines in Shanxi Province in northern China have come under investigation on suspicion of serious legal violations in connection with a gas explosion at a local coal mine, local authorities said on Saturday.
The Supervisory Committee of Shanxi Province is conducting an investigation into two employees of the Shanxi bureau of the State Administration for Work Safety Control in Coal Mines of China, Hu Huisun and Yu Zhangqing.
On May 22, 2026, a gas explosion occurred at the Lushenyu coal mine in Qingyuan County, Changzhi City, in this province, resulting in numerous casualties. -0-
