Tbilisi, July 2 /Xinhua/ — Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili held a meeting in Tbilisi on Thursday with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This was reported by the administration of the President of Georgia.
According to the agency, the parties discussed the agenda of bilateral relations.
Special attention was given to the signing of a declaration establishing a strategic partnership, which, it is noted, will elevate the relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation, the prospects of the Middle Corridor, and the strengthening of coordination within international formats. It was emphasized that the strategic partnership will open new opportunities for expanding bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
“Georgia considers Uzbekistan a reliable partner and a friendly state with which it shares mutual respect, common interests, and a strong commitment to deepening cooperation,” the statement reads.
