Bishkek, July 2 /Xinhua/ — The 3rd International Forum of Academicians on Green Energy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries was held on Thursday in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Academicians, experts, university leaders, and representatives of research institutions from SCO countries participated in the event.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister of Energy of Kyrgyzstan, Salavat Sadyrakunov, noted that green energy is becoming an important factor in ensuring energy security, sustainable economic growth, and technological development of SCO countries. According to him, Kyrgyzstan is open to further developing cooperation within the SCO framework and is interested in implementing joint scientific, technological, and investment projects in the field of green energy.
The Ambassador of China to Kyrgyzstan, Liu Jiangping, emphasized that China is actively promoting green and low-carbon transformation and has created the world’s largest renewable energy system, making a significant contribution to global green development. She stated China’s readiness to work with all parties on the active implementation of the Global Development Initiative and deepening cooperation in green energy to contribute the “SCO contribution” to the improvement of the global energy governance system.
As noted by Zhang Lijun, the rector of Xi’an Jiaotong University, promoting sustainable development requires the combined efforts and minds of various parties. Leveraging its own scientific strengths, Xi’an Jiaotong University will continue to expand cooperation with universities and research institutes in Central Asian countries in areas such as joint research, collaborative platform creation, practical application of results, and personnel training, in order to contribute to the green and low-carbon transformation of the region, the rector added.
The forum featured a plenary session, thematic seminars, and a roundtable, during which participants held in-depth discussions on topics such as the prospects for the development of clean energy and energy storage technologies, green and low-carbon development and energy transition, and avenues for advancing cooperation between China and Central Asia in the field of environmentally clean energy technologies.
In addition, the opening ceremony of the joint laboratory on clean energy and energy storage under the “Belt and Road” initiative was held, along with a presentation of important research results in green energy, and the grand opening of the intelligent digital demonstration center of the “Belt and Road” for training specialists in energy saving and energy storage.
The forum was jointly organized by Xi’an Jiaotong University, the International University of Kyrgyzstan, and the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic. –0–
