Tehran, July 1 /Xinhua/ — The official spokesperson of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, stated on Tuesday that a large number of officials from both regional and other countries have expressed their willingness to attend the farewell ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Speaking at the weekly press conference in Tehran, E. Bagai called these ceremonies “the most important event” in the coming days in Iran, the West Asia region, and beyond.
He said that all neighboring countries will send their representatives, and the recent visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Iraq was partly aimed at coordinating the ceremonies held there.
Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, Deputy Minister of Interior of Iran and head of the headquarters for organizing mourning events, said at a press conference on Tuesday that more than 30 countries and religious leaders from over 90 countries had expressed readiness to attend the farewell ceremonies.
