Baku, July 1 /Xinhua/ — Since its inception, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has always been at the forefront of the Chinese people’s struggle, writing heroic chapters in China’s history. The history of the CPC is closely intertwined with the fate of the people, and the creation of the CPC undoubtedly became an important milestone in human history. This was stated in an exclusive interview with Xinhua by Rafik Abbasov, head of the Sinology department at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.
According to the expert, today the CPC keeps pace with the times by conducting a global dialogue to achieve sustainable development goals, making active efforts in the name of human progress, inspiring developing countries around the world striving for national development with its successes, and contributing greatly to the cause of peace and development on the planet.
Under the leadership of the CPC — the largest and most powerful ruling party in the world — the country has transformed into a global power, the locomotive of the world economy, and a leading factor in international politics in a short historical period. The CPC, leading the great Chinese nation in its persistent struggle for freedom, development, and prosperity, has turned China into a world power with a developed economy and a unique scientific and technological potential — from artificial intelligence to aeronautics and space. Demonstrating effective state governance, the CPC has shown the whole world an example of building a model of a modern state based on the wellbeing of citizens and socio-political stability, making an invaluable contribution to maintaining international peace, developing global cooperation, and building a harmonious world worldwide, R. Abbasov noted.
He also emphasized that under the leadership of the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Xi Jinping, China’s economic achievements have become an important driving force for global economic growth. Thanks to Xi Jinping’s outstanding leadership qualities and foresight in areas such as maintaining regional stability, achieving sustainable development, ensuring social justice, and overcoming global challenges, China is confidently moving toward the goal of comprehensively building a modern socialist country by 2050.
According to R. Abbasov, Xi Jinping said, “to understand today’s China, you must understand the Communist Party of China.” The CPC, harmonizing communist ideas with the great spiritual heritage of the Chinese people, primarily the teachings of Confucius, brings vitality to the ideas of socialism with Chinese characteristics. And today, Xi Jinping’s ideas on socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era give a powerful new impetus to the awareness of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and promote the development of the global communist movement, while the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity contributes to advancing global development and improving global governance, providing valuable experience to all political parties and countries of the world.
The history of the CPC is most closely connected with the fate of the people. As Xi Jinping noted: “The original aspiration and mission of the Chinese Communists is to seek happiness for the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.” This fundamental aspiration, this mission, is what inspires Chinese Communists to self-development. And history has proven that without the Communist Party there would be no new China and no socialism with Chinese characteristics, stated R. Abbasov.
