Seoul, June 30 /Xinhua/ — The National Assembly /parliament/ of the Republic of Korea on Tuesday approved the appointment of Han Seong-suk as the new Prime Minister of the country.
The decision on the appointment was supported by parliamentarians with 166 votes ‘for,’ and one vote was declared invalid.
Deputies from the main conservative opposition party “Civil Power” boycotted the vote, while representatives of the ruling Democratic Party “Toburo” and other pro-government parties voted to approve the document.
Han Seong-sook’s candidacy for the prime minister position was nominated by the country’s president Lee Jae-myeong on June 7. –0–
