Almaty, June 26 /Xinhua/ — The Government of Kazakhstan intends to reduce inflation to below 10 percent in the near future. This was reported on Friday by the Kazinform agency with reference to the country’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.

In September of last year, the inflation rate peaked at 12.9 percent. Over the five months of the current year, the rate has decreased to 10.4 percent, said O. Bektenov at the joint session of the chambers of parliament in Astana.

Together with the Prime Minister, it was noted that last year inflationary processes affected the income levels of the population. In agriculture, real incomes grew by 9.3%, in trade, communications, water supply, and energy — on average by 4%, in the transport sector — from 5 to 10%.
