The development of public transport across the country remains one of the priority tasks of the national project “Infrastructure for Life.” The Government of Russia continues systematic work on updating the rolling stock in the regions, and with the help of various support measures, since the beginning of the year, regions have already received 642 vehicles. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.
The rolling stock is updated thanks to programs from the Ministry of Transport (direct subsidies from the federal budget, comprehensive development of urban electric transport under a concession model, subsidizing preferential leasing by JSC “GTLK”), the Ministry of Industry and Trade (leasing subsidies for JSC “GTLK” for wheeled vehicles), as well as the Ministry of Construction (infrastructure loans).
“Updating public transport plays an important role in improving the comfort and safety of passenger movement, and therefore, in improving the quality of people’s lives. Thanks to the Transport Strategy, developed and approved by the Government, a gradual replacement of worn-out buses, trolleybuses, trams has become possible both in the metropolis and in small towns, including transport operating on suburban routes. Thanks to several federal programs, since the beginning of 2026, Russian regions have received 642 vehicles – 607 buses and 35 trams, and over five years we plan to update about 27,500 units of rolling stock,” said Marat Khusnullin.
Federal support measures allow regional carrier companies to purchase environmentally friendly and comfortable vehicles on favorable terms with a discount.
