Beijing, June 24 /Xinhua/ — Actions by the Japanese government aimed at obstructing the establishment of “comfort women” monuments in the respective countries have caused serious outrage among public organizations and representatives of various social groups. This was stated on Wednesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Geng Shuang.
Answering the corresponding question from journalists at yet another departmental press conference, Go Tzyakun noted that some forces in Japan are trying to deny and even falsify the history of aggression, while at the same time downplaying the significance of the “comfort women” issue, depriving victims of the right to seek truth and receive compensation, thus continuing to “salt the wounds” of those affected.
