Beijing, June 23 /Xinhua/ — China’s cultural and tourism market continued to steadily expand during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday /Dragon Boat Festival/, with both the number of trips within domestic tourism and overall domestic travel trips increasing in annual terms. This is evidenced by the official data released on Monday by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the PRC.
The department stated that during the specified period, the number of domestic trips increased by 4.4 percent annually to 124 million.
Also, during the reporting period, total revenues from domestic tourism reached 44.46 billion yuan (approximately 6.52 billion USD), 4 percent more than the previous year, the department reported.
The Duanwu Festival this year fell on a Friday (June 19). In some cases, the holiday in the country was extended from Friday through Sunday.
