Beijing, June 9 /Xin Hua/ — Chairman of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping and President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili exchanged congratulations on Tuesday on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and jointly announced the upgrading of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
In his congratulatory message, Xi Jinping noted that China and Georgia have consistently adhered to the principles of mutual respect, mutual trust, and mutually beneficial cooperation over the past 34 years, contributed to the healthy and sustainable development of bilateral relations, and achieved fruitful results in cooperation in various fields.
According to him, since the establishment of strategic partnership relations between China and Georgia in 2023, mutual political trust between them has been further strengthened, practical cooperation has accelerated, and multilateral cooperation has become more productive.
No matter how the international situation changes, China always views its relations with Georgia from a strategic perspective and as one of the long-term prospects, noted Xi Jinping. He expressed readiness to use the current anniversary to jointly announce with M. Kavlashvili the elevation of bilateral relations to an all-encompassing strategic partnership.
“I am confident that strengthening bilateral ties will open new prospects for the development of Sino-Georgian relations and a new chapter in the history of traditional friendship, give a strong impetus to mutually beneficial cooperation, and also bring greater benefits to the peoples of the two countries,” said the Chairman of the CNC.
In his message, M. Kavelashvili noted that over the past thirty-plus years, Georgia and China have established a strong friendship, and bilateral relations have made remarkable progress, based on mutual respect, trust, and constructive cooperation.
On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, the parties adopted a joint decision to elevate Georgian-Chinese ties to the level of an all-encompassing strategic partnership, the president noted. He expressed confidence that this would create more opportunities for bilateral cooperation and bring great benefits to both countries, as well as contribute to the further strengthening of friendship between the Georgian and Chinese peoples. –0–
