Washington, June 9 /Xinhua/ — American military forces are “obliged” to respond after Iran shot down a US helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated on Tuesday by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
“I’ve just been informed… that on the evening of June 8, Iranians shot down one of our Apache helicopters while it was conducting patrols over the Strait of Hormuz,” wrote D. Trump on the social network Truth Social.
According to the American president, two pilots who were on board the helicopter were rescued. They “put on safety equipment and were unharmed.”
“Nevertheless, the United States is obliged, by necessity, to respond to this attack,” added D. Trump.
