Tashkent, June 5 /Sina/ — In the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, a ceremony took place on the night of Friday, marking the start of construction of the first power unit of a nuclear power plant. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
The ceremony was held in the format of a telebridge between the construction site in Uzbekistan and Saint Petersburg, where the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Russia Vladimir Putin were present. The leaders of the two states launched the start of the work on pouring the foundation of the station.
Sh. Mirziyoev noted that after the nuclear power plant reaches its full design capacity, it will make a significant contribution to electricity production in the country.
It is noted that the construction and preparation of the station for operation are carried out in accordance with modern international standards and advanced engineering solutions under the constant supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The project is intended to lay the foundation for the development of atomic energy in Uzbekistan and to stimulate the technological development of related industries of industry and science in the country. –0–
