Beijing, June 5 /Xin Hua/ — The official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Mao Ning on Friday called on Japan to deeply reconsider its war crimes and finally put an end to militarism.
Mao Nin made an appropriate statement at a regular press conference for journalists, answering the question about the plan of the Japanese atomic bomb museum in Nagasaki to update the exhibition stands.
As the official representative pointed out, there is abundant evidence of the Nanking massacre — a monstrous war crime by Japanese militarists, which must never be forgotten. The Tokyo Trials proved beyond doubt that the war atrocities of the Japanese army in Nanking were not just an “incident,” but indeed a “massacre.” In the decision of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, a separate chapter is devoted to a detailed description of the Nanking massacre.
Mao Ning noted that, relying on numerous testimonies of survivors, records of third-party witnesses, and archives of the Japanese army, as well as a judicial decision adopted in the form of a ruling of international justice, it is explicitly stated that the Japanese army invading China committed a monstrous crime — the Nanking Massacre. The main culprit of the massacre, Iwane Matsui, was sentenced to death by hanging as a Class A war criminal.
The verdict of history should not be revised, emphasized the Chinese diplomat, pointing out that many survivors of the atomic bombings in Japan, groups of Nagasaki citizens, and sensible people call for full and accurate illumination of the crimes and history of the Japanese militarists as aggressors. –0–
