Tehran, May 30 /Xinhua/ — The official representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, said in a telephone interview to the IRIB TV channel on Friday that the agreement with the United States has not yet been finalized, and the parties continue to exchange messages.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump outlined the terms of a deal with Iran and noted that a decision will be made soon.
E. Baghai again emphasized that Iran’s attention in the negotiations is now focused “on ending the war.” “We are not discussing details related to uranium enrichment in Iran or enriched uranium at this stage,” he said.
Speaking about the possible opening of the Strait of Hormuz, E. Bagai emphasized that issues of further management of this waterway “concern only Iran and Oman.”
Earlier on the same day, D. Trump stated on social networks that “Iran must agree that it will never have nuclear weapons or bombs.”
“The Hormuz Strait must be immediately opened without charge for passage for unrestricted navigation in both directions. All naval mines / bombs, if any, will be destroyed,” wrote D. Trump, adding that the U.S. naval blockade “will now be lifted.”
He also said that Iran’s enriched uranium stocks will be extracted by the United States in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency and destroyed.
“No money will be exchanged until further notice,” D. Trump also wrote, apparently referring to Iran’s frozen assets and the financial compensation demanded by Tehran.
Iran, the USA, and Israel reached a ceasefire on April 8 after 40 days of hostilities caused by American-Israeli strikes on the Islamic Republic.
In recent weeks, the USA and Iran, through the mediation of Pakistan, have exchanged several proposals outlining the conditions for ending the conflict. It is reported that the parties are working on the final agreement of a memorandum of understanding. –0–
