Hohhot, May 30 /Xinhua/ — On Saturday, in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia /Northern China/, a ceremony was held to open the joint military exercises of China and Mongolia codenamed “Steppe Partner-2026.”
The main focus of the exercise will be on practicing a joint operation to combat illegal armed formations. They are aimed at deepening friendship and mutual trust, expanding practical cooperation, and strengthening the capabilities of both sides to maintain regional peace and stability.
In the exercise, the parties plan to create a joint command structure and conduct training in joint command and coordinated strike operations under conditions simulating combat actions.
More than 600 officers and soldiers from China and Mongolia attended the opening ceremony on Saturday. These are the second exercises within the series of joint army exercises of the two countries.
