Harbin, May 28 /Xin Hua/ — On Tuesday, the Secondary School at Harbin Pedagogical University (HPU), located in the city of Harbin (administrative center of Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China), was granted the status of a Preparatory Center for Applicants of the Russian People’s Friendship University (RUDN). Thus, it became the first secondary school of a higher education level in China to have such status.
The ceremony of conferring the status of the above-mentioned center took place within the framework of the “Day of International Educational Cooperation of the Secondary School at KhPU with RUDN,” during which a RUDN delegation, headed by its chief expert of its international service Natalia Syulkova, visited a Chinese school.
The parties discussed such issues as the integration of educational programs, teacher training, the organization of educational trips and exchange events, and also signed a framework agreement on cooperation in the fields of science and education.
N. Syulkov noted that in the future RUDN will continue to provide support to the Secondary School at XPU in the area of teaching the Russian language and in the development of corresponding curricula, send teachers to conduct consultations for students on studying the Russian language and preparing for exams, as well as offer students of the Chinese-Russian international classes the opportunity to participate in summer and winter camps and other orientation trips. The parties have also reached agreements on the creation of a Russian language center at the Secondary School at XPU, the organization of subject Olympiads, and the professional development of teachers.
According to data from the Secondary School at HPU, Chinese-Russian international classes were opened at this school in 2024. Currently, the number of students studying under this curriculum has reached 200.
The head of the international department of the Secondary School at HPU, Zhang Yuipin, said that most students of Chinese-Russian international classes start learning Russian from scratch after entering the upper level school. They can not only participate in the national entrance exam in Chinese universities ‘Gaokao’ in the Russian language, but also submit documents for studying at Russian universities. The school aims to create broader development opportunities for students through diversified training pathways.
The director of the secondary school at HPU Lu Zhengchen expressed hope that the development of the RUDN applicant training center would allow effective integration of basic and higher education in China and Russia, which will give a new impetus to the development of education for training highly qualified specialists with knowledge of the Russian language and contribute to the expansion of China’s openness in the northern direction. -0-
