Astana, May 28 /Xin Hua/ — At the invitation of the Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Erlan Koshanov, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China /NPC NPC/ Zhao Lezi visited Kazakhstan from Monday to Wednesday on an official friendly visit.
During his visit to Astana, Chjao Lēczi met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and also held talks with the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Maulen Ashimbayev, and E. Koshanov.
At the meeting with K.-Zh. Tokayev, the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan stated that China is ready to jointly with Kazakhstan firmly support each other on issues affecting core interests, strengthen the coordination of development strategies, and continue to promote high-quality cooperation within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative.
Zhao Lezi called on the parties to strengthen cooperation in the fields of investment, energy, mineral extraction, interconnectivity and other areas, as well as to form new directions of cooperation in the fields of new energy, digital economy, artificial intelligence, cross-border e-commerce, “smart” cities and others. He also noted that the parties should, through joint efforts, ensure the successful holding of the Year of Cultural Exchange between China and Kazakhstan.
The Chairman of the Political Consultative Conference of the Communist Party also stated that China is ready to strengthen coordination together with Kazakhstan within the framework of the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the “China-Central Asia” mechanism, and other multilateral formats to protect the common interests of both countries, as well as international justice.
From his side, K.-Zh. Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan and China are good neighbors, friends, and partners. He emphasized that Kazakhstan adheres to the principle of one China and supports the concept put forward by the Chairman of the PRC Xi Jinping of building a community of common destiny and four global initiatives.
The President of Kazakhstan also noted that cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries is continuously deepening and plays an important role in strengthening Kazakh-Chinese friendship.
At the talks with M. Ashimbaev and E. Koshanov, Zhao Lezi stated that exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of China and Kazakhstan are an integral part of Chinese-Kazakhstani relations. According to him, the legislative bodies of the two countries should exchange experience in the development of democracy and the rule of law, improving the quality of legislation, and in other areas, in order to promote the development of each country.
M. Ashimbaev noted that China has become an important pillar of global stability and a powerful driver of global economic growth. According to him, Kazakhstan will create favorable conditions for bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation.
E. Koshanov stated that the Kazakh side firmly supports China’s position on issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, Xiang’an, and Sichuan, and expressed readiness to continue strengthening friendly exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries. –0–
