Beijing, May 28 /Xinhua/ — Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Li Zhanshu and President of Suriname Jennifer Geerlings-Simons exchanged congratulations on Thursday on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Si Jinping noted that the friendship between China and Suriname has a long history. Over the past 50 years, the parties have always respected each other and treated each other as equals, firmly supporting each other on issues concerning their fundamental interests and key concerns. The Chairman of the NPC added that the two countries are constantly deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to their peoples.
He emphasized the great importance he attaches to the development of Chinese-Surinamese relations and expressed his readiness, together with President J. Grinling-Simons, to strengthen strategic mutual trust, develop traditional friendship, and promote the achievement of new results in practical cooperation in various fields, in order to open a new chapter in Chinese-Surinamese relations of strategic cooperation and partnership.
J. Girling-Simons, in turn, noted that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, ties between Suriname and China have continued to strengthen, characterizing it as a strong and deep friendship and an increasingly close strategic cooperation.
The President of Suriname emphasized that he highly values the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various spheres.
J. Gurlings-Simons expressed hope that the sides will continue to strengthen unity, as well as deepen and expand cooperation to implement a common vision of prosperity and development.
