New York, May 27 /Xinhua/ — Member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi on Tuesday expressed hope that the Czech Republic will take more positive and constructive measures to improve bilateral relations. He made this statement during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the Czech Republic Petr Macek in the sidelines of the UN Security Council high-level meeting.

In turn, P. Macinka confirmed the firm commitment of the new Czech government to the one-China policy, stating that this position will never change.

He expressed readiness to strengthen ties with the PRC, increase mutual trust, gradually return Czech-Chinese relations to the proper course, and resume exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Van I noted that faced with current global challenges, major countries, in particular, must play a proper role, being at the forefront of defending international law and multilateralism practices. They must take on a leading role in supporting small and medium-sized countries, as well as in ensuring peace and stability, he emphasized.

According to the head of the MID, four important global initiatives put forward by the Chairman of the CNS, Tzinyinpino, are aimed at more effective resolution of global problems and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

China is ready to cooperate with the Czech side to eliminate disruptions and obstacles, improve bilateral relations, and revive the tradition of friendship, stated Wan I.

The Taiwan issue is an internal affair of the PRC, the minister noted, expressing hope that the Czech government will adhere to the one-China principle, counteract negative words and actions with more active and positive measures, strengthen the political foundation of bilateral ties, and help Sino-Czech relations return to the path of healthy development. –0–
