May 27 — the birthday of our beloved city, Saint Petersburg. The northern capital of Russia has turned 323 years old! This date is not round, but symbolically and mathematically beautiful in its own way. And we wholeheartedly congratulate the city on the free Neva on its 323rd anniversary!

Founded by the great reformer Peter I, Saint Petersburg became a symbol of enlightenment, progress, and the might of Russia. Named in honor of the Apostle Peter — the heavenly patron of the Russian emperor, Saint Petersburg has undergone a colossal journey of over three centuries — from a fortress at the mouth of the Neva River to a cultural and scientific center of global significance, the most European city of Russia, a brilliant metropolis. At the same time, the city possesses a unique charisma, being covered from century to century with an aura of romance and refined lyricism.

The Polytechnic Institute has a special relationship with Saint Petersburg, since our university bears the name of its founder. Like the city itself, our university was created with a view to the future — for the training of engineers and scientists capable of driving the country forward. For decades, graduates of Politechnika have made a significant contribution to the development of Saint Petersburg: they participate in the design and construction of urban facilities, bridges, and highways; they develop innovative technologies for industry, energy, and urban management; they create digital solutions for smart cities and transport infrastructure; they preserve architectural heritage using modern engineering methods and, of course, pass on their knowledge and nurture new generations of talented specialists.

On the birthday of Saint Petersburg, it is customary to wish all its residents prosperity, happiness, and a peaceful sky. May the streets and avenues of the Northern capital bloom with the smiles of people, giving them a sense of home and inspiring them to create and realize dreams in life. And may mercy, kindness, and love fill the air of our city like a fresh breeze from the Baltic fills the sails.

Happy holiday, beloved city! Happy birthday, Saint Petersburg!
