New York, May 27 /Xin Hua/ — Member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wan Yi and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Rosa Yolanda Villavicenio, held a meeting here on Tuesday, at which they agreed to strengthen cooperation.
Van Yi noted that under the strategic leadership of the heads of the two countries, China-Colombia relations have achieved significant success. Practical cooperation has yielded rich results, especially since Colombia joined the cooperation under the initiative “Belt and Road,” he added.
According to the minister, China supports the peace process in Colombia and values the country’s long-term commitment to the one-China principle. Beijing is ready to develop cooperation with Bogota in various fields based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, as well as to contribute to the sustainable progress of the China-Colombia strategic partnership, emphasized Wan Yi.
R. I. Viljavicensio, in turn, stated that China is a peace-loving and trustworthy country, and strengthening cooperation with it is a common choice of various Latin American countries.
She noted that Colombia adheres to the principle of one China and is ready to activate practical cooperation with the PRC in areas such as economy, trade, investment, and infrastructure, as well as to make a new contribution to the long-term development of relations between Latin America and China. –0–
