Urumqi, May 26 /Xin Hua/ — Having completed participation on Monday in the 7th stage of the “Takla-Makan-2026” rally, which is held in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region /PRC, Northwest China/, the crews of both trucks of the Russian team “KAMAZ-master” secured their places in the top ten among all types of vehicle participants of the tournament, demonstrating a high level of sportsmanship.
Founded in 1988, the Russian racing team “KAMAZ-master” has won the “Dakar” rally marathon 19 times in the truck category. However, participation in the “Takla-Makan” rally did not become the first of its kind for them.
The head of the marketing department of the team, Ekaterina Doronina, said that previously the “KAMAZ-master” had repeatedly participated in the “Silk Way” rally and had visited China. According to her, the desert environment where the “Takla-Makan” rally takes place is very interesting and complex, which can make the whole team stronger. It is precisely for this reason that the Russian team decided to come to China to participate in this tournament.
It is known that the ‘KAMAZ-master’ team arrived in China with a contingent of more than 40 people. It is represented by two crews in the truck category.
The “Tackla-Makan” rally was held for the first time in the USA in 2005. The race of this year will end in the city of Aksu, USA, on June 1st. The total length of the racing tracks is about 7,500 km, including 3,400 km of special stages. In total, 299 people and 152 vehicles, including 9 trucks, participate in the event. Both in terms of the length of special stages and the number of participants and vehicles, this year’s rally set a new record.
In addition to “KAMAZ-master,” Russian teams Ural Motosport and Snag Racing Team are also participating in the event.
According to E. Doronina, participation in the rally “Takla-Makan” is an important part of the long-term plan “KAMAZ-master.” She said that next year, the team may be represented here by a larger number of trucks, expressing hope that in the future the race will become more competitive with the involvement of even more international participants. -0-
