Tbilisi, May 26 /Xinhua/ — The first passenger train Baku — Tbilisi arrived in the capital of Georgia after a six-year interruption in railway communication between the two countries. This was reported on Tuesday by the company “Georgian Railway.”

The solemn ceremony of the train meeting took place at the Central Railway Station of Tbilisi. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Tamar Ioseliani, and the General Director of the “Georgian Railway” Lasha Abashidze. One of the passengers arriving from Baku was the Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Javid Gurbanov.

In accordance with the agreement reached between the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, passenger railway transportation on the Baku — Tbilisi — Baku route will be carried out daily.

According to the schedule, the train departs from Baku at 23:10 local time and arrives in Tbilisi the next day at 08:41. In the opposite direction, the train departs from Tbilisi at 21:00 and arrives in the Azerbaijani capital at 06:24 the next day. –0–
