Tehran, May 17 /Xin Hua/ — Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni met on Saturday with his Pakistani colleague, Mosin Nawazvi. The parties discussed issues of security and trade, as well as peace efforts in the region, the IRNA news agency reported.

After the meeting, E. Momeni stated that the parties have agreed to take measures to facilitate border operations, transit, and trade. He characterized the Iran-Pakistan border as a place of “friendship, brotherhood, and security,” emphasizing that joint efforts strengthen security.

Ministers also discussed new border crossings and the expansion of economic and political ties.

According to IRNA, M. Nakvi arrived in Tehran on Saturday for a two-day visit. He expressed hope that joint efforts will lead to tangible improvements in cooperation and the security sector.

His visit also reflects the current role of Islamabad in facilitating negotiations between Iran and the USA, aimed at strengthening peace following the ceasefire that took effect on April 8. Pakistan has hosted previous rounds of talks and helped exchange peace proposals. –0–
