Beijing, May 15 /Xinhua/ — Chairman of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump held in-depth communication and achieved substantial results during a meeting in Beijing. This was stated on Friday by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Van I made an appropriate statement at a briefing for journalists following the results of the meeting of the leaders of two states, which took place during D. Trump’s state visit to China from May 13 to 15.
As the Chinese diplomat said, within the framework of this meeting, official negotiations and a welcoming banquet took place, as well as conversations in a narrow circle and informative excursions were organized. The contacts between Xi Jinping and D. Trump lasted almost nine hours. Mutual respect, careful attitude towards peace, and discussion of cooperation opportunities were consistently the leitmotifs throughout the entire meeting, noted Wan Yi.
The most important political consensus of the meeting, continued the head of the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was that the leaders of China and the USA agreed to form China-American relations of constructive strategic stability.
In addition, Van I added that the parties expressed their willingness to establish greater exchanges in such areas as diplomacy, armed forces, economy and trade, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, cultural and humanitarian exchanges, and law enforcement, which gave a new impetus to interstate exchanges at the next stage. –0–
