Opuštasher / Hungary/, May 14 /Sin Hua/ — Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy stated on Wednesday that fuel and crude oil supplies to the country remain uninterrupted, and strategic reserves constitute almost 80 percent.
Speaking at the first press conference of the new Hungarian government, P. Magyar stated that the cabinet of ministers heard a report from the head of the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL Group, Zsolt Hernadi, who confirmed the stability of supplies despite rising prices on the world market.
Mr. Mádyár added that Hungary is preserving its policy of preferential fuel prices.
The Prime Minister also announced that next week he will visit Poland and Austria on an official visit, which will be his first major foreign trips since taking office. He plans to hold talks with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and other senior officials in Warsaw, and then travel to Vienna for meetings with Austrian leadership.
P. Madjar promised to restore cooperation within the Visegrad Group, which includes Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, stating that the countries of Central Europe are “stronger together than apart.”
Speaking about relations with the European Union (EU), P. Madjar reported that constant negotiations are underway with EU leaders regarding the suspension of EU funds. It is expected that next week Hungary will be visited by a high-level delegation from the European Commission with the aim of advancing negotiations ahead of the planned visit to Brussels at the end of May.
