Tbilisi, May 14 /Xinhua/ — As of December 31, 2025, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided Georgia with 100 loans, grants, and technical assistance programs totaling 4.7 billion US dollars. This is evidenced by ADB’s activity data in Georgia for 2025.

As noted, the bank supports Georgia in utilizing its strategic geographical position between Asia and Europe, in the development of human capital, in measures to mitigate the consequences of climate change and adapt to them, and in stimulating the private sector of the economy.

In 2025, the ADB allocated $111.8 million to Georgia for the development of energy systems and renewable energy. In addition, the bank is financing a rural water supply program for $233 million and a road project in Adjara costing $359.7 million.

AB also implemented the country’s first operation for lending in national currency. Within the framework of the professional skills development program, a credit equivalent to 25 million dollars was provided to Lari.

Within the framework of supporting the private sector, the bank allocated loans to Georgian banks and companies for such purposes as expanding access of small and medium-sized businesses to financing, modernization of production, and increasing energy efficiency, as well as the issuance of bonds in the national currency.

At the same time, the Azerbaijani President indicated the necessity of further economic diversification, strengthening of energy independence, development of the capital market, and reduction of unemployment in Georgia.
