In Moscow, there are charitable foundations that help those who have lost their home, health, or job. For people who have gone through serious life difficulties, returning to work becomes an important step towards independence, social adaptation, and regaining faith in themselves.

The shelter “New Life” helps to obtain a job specialty

There are different cases when people lose their own home — due to legal fraud, serious illness, or simply an unfortunate coincidence of circumstances. A charitable foundation“Agricultural Shelter ‘New Life'”helps people who have lost their homes to get back on their feet. The foundation’s specialists will provide support in arranging temporary housing, restoring documents, and will conduct psychological consultations.

As noted by the foundation, years spent without the feeling of home deprive a person of the ability to effectively build new communications and believe in themselves. The foundation helps such category of city residents to settle in a temporary shelter and find work. The team also provides the opportunity to communicate with psychologists and volunteers who teach how to properly write resumes and conduct interviews. After rehabilitation, the foundation sends wards to verified farms — where there is work, housing, and reliable people who will not let them down.

One of such stories is about a ward of the Igor Foundation. He was left without his own home as a teenager due to a complicated family situation. For a long time, Igor moved from one dormitory to another, not having his own housing. Harmful habits and an unhealthy lifestyle led to his losing his job. A friend brought Igor to the foundation with a fate like his own. The staff helped restore documents, a psychologist returned motivation, and special courses taught lathe skills. Now Igor works on a farm, receives a stable salary, and lives in good conditions.

How the “Dal’she” Foundation Helps Women with Employment After Cancer

After cancer treatment, people often face not only the physical consequences of the disease but also the inability to return to their previous work. Fond“Further”launched the project “Living Further. Career” and helps wards after serious treatment to rebuild a professional life from scratch.

“Every year, more than 70 thousand women aged 25 to 55 hear an oncological diagnosis for the first time. And life changes: chronic fatigue after treatment, serious changes in professional self-esteem. We at the foundation are confident that every woman should have a choice: if you want to return to work — we will help; if you want to start your own business — we will help with that too. The important thing is that you are not alone, and continuing your professional life after illness is real,” said Oksana Moldovanova, president of the “Dal’she” foundation.

The project has two directions. The first is career support: individual online consultations with career advisors, assistance with writing resumes and preparing for interviews, as well as psychological consultations. The second direction is education in social entrepreneurship: an online course, practical assignments, and a grant competition for launching one’s own business. Today, more than 300 people participate in the project. Of these, over 200 are in the career track, and more than 100 are in entrepreneurship training.

One of the project participants is 37-year-old Anna. After treatment for hormone-dependent breast cancer, she was fired because she couldn’t keep up with the previous pace. In the foundation, she received consultations from an oncologist and support from a support group, and then she enrolled in a social entrepreneurship school. Now Anna is developing her own project for women.

ORBIS Foundation: assistance in the employment of people who have suffered a stroke

About half a million people suffer a stroke each year in Russia. Many lose not only their health, but also their jobs and self-confidence. Stroke Combat Fund“ORBI”Conducts an employment assistance program — free and accessible to everyone who needs it. Participants receive consultations from a career expert, a lawyer, a psychologist, and a rehabilitation specialist. They learn to write cover letters and talk about themselves in an interview.

“For many applicants, the efforts made to restore health, and the results achieved, are a new experience and a wonderful example of personal qualities and achievements to be proud of. A competent recruiter will always appreciate such experience and see the potential,” noted program coordinator Alla Sotnikova.

One of the program participants is Svetlana Dashieva. At the age of 53, she worked as a paramedic in emergency medical care. She suffered a stroke right on the way home after her shift. The woman managed to call an ambulance, and then came resuscitation, coma, hospital, and years of recovery. Svetlana underwent additional professional training, but finding a job after the illness was difficult. Then she turned to the ORBI fund. The employment coordinator contacted her. Thanks to the fund, Svetlana realized that looking for a job can be done differently — relying on her strengths and understanding her health limitations. She is currently planning to take a course on video creation for freelancing, which will help to select one in the fund.

To help people who have suffered a stroke, the foundation has created a guide for employment in the labor market forapplicants. From it, you can learn what questions to ask a medical specialist before job searching, what rights people with disabilities have when employed, how to successfully pass an interview and the probation period.
