Tbilisi, May 11 /Xin Hua/ — In 2025, the unemployment rate in Georgia will be 13.9%, remaining unchanged compared to the previous year. This was reported on Monday by the National Statistics Service of Georgia.

According to agency data, last year the labor force in the country numbered about 1.6 million people. Of them, about 1.4 million people were employed, including 961 thousand hired workers, and 426 thousand belonged to the category of self-employed. The number of unemployed amounted to 224 thousand people.

The employment rate in cities decreased by 1.2 percentage points, while in rural areas it increased by 1.1 percentage points, reaching 47.3% and 46.3%, respectively.

The share of hired workers in the total employment structure last year was 69.3%, which is 0.8 percentage points higher than the indicator for 2024.

The unemployment rate in urban areas rose by 1.3 percentage points, while in rural areas it decreased by 2.1 percentage points.
