Moscow, May 10 /Xin Hua/ — The interaction between Russia and China today is a crucial factor in stabilizing international relations. This was stated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at a press conference on Saturday.
“Interaction between Russia and China is the most important factor today in stabilizing international relations. After all, we have almost no agreements left that regulate the sphere of security, the sphere of disarmament, and control over nuclear weapons. And the interaction of states like China and Russia is undoubtedly a factor of restraint and stability,” said the Russian leader.
He also added that China is the largest trade and economic partner of the Russian Federation. The President noted that the trade turnover between the two countries has already reached a “decent” level of more than 140 billion dollars and continues to grow, as well as diversify. “This diversification continues through high-tech industries, which is very important,” said V. Putin, expressing gratitude to the leadership of the PRC on this matter.
Russia and China continue cooperation in the field of atomic energy, the president stated. In addition, according to V. Putin, the two countries are “in a high degree of agreement to take a serious, very significant step forward in cooperation in the gas and oil sectors.”
The Russian leader also welcomed the continuation of contacts and constructive interaction between China and the USA, calling it an additional factor of global stability.
“The fact that the United States continues contact with China is very important, we only welcome this, it is another element of stability… We only benefit from this — from the stability and constructive interaction between the United States and China,” said V. Putin. –0–
