Abuja, May 9 /Sina/ — At least 16 people died, and six others were injured as a result of a traffic accident in Kogi state in the central part of Nigeria. This was reported by the commander of the federal road safety corps in the Lavan Fagge region.
According to him, the traffic accident occurred early Friday morning. The bus drove off the bridge in the village of Aku on the Okene-Lokodja highway.
The preliminary investigation showed that the driver exceeded the speed limit and lost control, as a result, the bus fell from the bridge onto the road below.
L. Fagge named speeding and driver fatigue as the causes of the accident, characterizing the incident as preventable.
