Minsk, April 26 /Xin Hua/ — A batch of T-72BM2 tanks, modernized by Belarusian specialists, has arrived in the tank unit of one of the mechanized brigades in Belarus. The relevant information was published by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus on Saturday.

The development of the T-72BM2 was carried out by engineers and designers of one of the enterprises of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus. When creating the tank, experience in the use of military technology in modern armed conflicts was taken into account, which made it possible to integrate the most effective solutions into the machine’s design to improve its tactical and technical characteristics.

The commander of the separate guards mechanized brigade, Guards Colonel Vadim Ilnitsky, reported that the received combat vehicles meet all the requirements of a modern combined-arms combat vehicle.

“I want to note that this is only the first stage of obtaining the newest combat vehicles. Soon this practice will continue, and we will receive new weapons, military and special equipment for fulfilling the assigned tasks. Combat vehicles are equipped with new fire control systems, new radios, as well as a strengthened engine that allows increasing the tank’s movement speed,” explained V. Ilnitsky.

A multi-channel gunner’s sight has been installed on the modernized T-72BM2 tank, enhancing fire effectiveness and improving shooting conditions by introducing a mode that allows weapon control from the commander’s position. Modern TV and thermal imaging devices, in-house developed dynamic protection, reactive armor screens, and an autonomous power supply unit have also been installed.
