Minsk, April 26 /Xin Hua/ — A batch of T-72BM2 tanks, modernized by Belarusian specialists, has arrived in a tank unit of one of the mechanized brigades in Belarus. The corresponding information was published by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus on Saturday.
The T-72BM2 was developed by engineers and designers of one of the enterprises of the State Military-Industrial Committee of Belarus. When creating the tank, the experience of using military technology in modern armed conflicts was taken into account, which allowed integrating the most effective solutions to improve its tactical and technical characteristics into the machine’s design.
The commander of the separate guards mechanized brigade, Guard Colonel Vadim Ilnitsky, reported that the received combat vehicles meet all the requirements of modern combined-arms combat.
“I want to emphasize that this is only the first stage of receiving the latest combat vehicles. Soon, this practice will continue, and we will receive new weapons, military and special equipment for performing the assigned tasks. The combat vehicles are equipped with new fire control systems, new radio stations, as well as an enhanced engine that allows increasing the tank’s movement speed,” explained V. Ilnitsky.
A multi-channel gunner’s sight has been installed on the modernized T-72BM2 tank, increasing fire effectiveness; shooting conditions have been improved by introducing a mode that allows the weapon to be controlled from the commander’s position. Modern television and thermal imaging devices, dynamic protection of our own design, explosive reactive armor, and an autonomous power unit have also been installed.
