Beijing, April 23 /Xin Hua/ — On Thursday, the 77th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) of China was celebrated, which, thanks to its presence and growing potential, has become by now an important force in maintaining regional and global stability.

As part of the celebration of the anniversary of the founding, open house days were held at the bases of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) in more than 10 cities, where over 40 ships in active service were opened to the general public.

By the number of ships and their types, today’s open day has surpassed all previous similar events, the Navy statement says.

Visitors can get acquainted up close with missile destroyers, frigates, and landing transport docks, as well as auxiliary ships including supply ships and a floating hospital. Many of them were involved in corresponding missions, such as escorting ships in the Gulf of Aden, overseas visits, and joint exercises.

Founded in the same year, the People’s Republic of China and the PLAN naval forces have transformed over 77 years into a modern fleet, possessing a full spectrum of naval military units, as well as both conventional and nuclear capabilities.

In a little more than ten years, three aircraft carriers were built, new strategic nuclear submarines, 10,000-ton class destroyers, landing ships, and vessels for comprehensive support of naval operations and ensuring national security appeared.

The official and expert circles of China have long come to understand that the Chinese Armed Forces are a reliable force in ensuring peace and stability throughout the world and that their growing power can only contribute to strengthening peace, advocating for peace.
