On April 14-15 in Izhevsk, the IV All-Russian Congress “Roads. Bridges. Improvement” took place, becoming one of the key platforms for discussing the future road infrastructure of the country. An associate professor of the Department of Transport Systems and Road and Bridge Construction of the Saint Petersburg State Architectural and Construction University participated in it.Egor Golov.

The congress, held with the support of the Government and the Ministry of Transport and Road Economy of the Udmurt Republic, gathered over 150 experts from 20 regions of Russia. Participants included representatives of federal and regional road agencies, leading construction companies, scientific centers, and manufacturers of innovative materials and technologies. The event became an important step in the implementation of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” and demonstrated the regions’ commitment to systematic support in road management.

Yegor Golov gave a report on a comprehensive assessment of the operational condition of highways according to the road traffic safety criteria. The main focus of the presentation was the developed methodology for a comprehensive assessment of the condition of highways – a systematic approach that allows a comprehensive analysis of the road network condition and accurately identifies sections with a reduced level of safety. The application of the methodology made it possible not only to identify specific problem sections of the Udmurtia road network but also to justify the priority of repair work taking into account the features of budget formation. The results of a comprehensive analysis of road parameters were presented: from geometric characteristics (lane widths, curve radii, slopes, etc.) to road surface conditions and the presence of infrastructure elements – markings, signs, barriers, and lighting. Special attention was paid to the statistics of road traffic accidents, including their frequency, severity of consequences, and typical causes.

The participation of the SPbGASU teacher in the event emphasized the high status of our university as a leading institution, preparing specialists for the transport industry, and contributed to strengthening the ties between the academic community and practicing engineers. At the congress hall, key areas of industry development were also discussed, such as digitization, the introduction of intelligent transport systems (ITS), the use of composite and special materials, the reconstruction of complex road sections, and the engineering protection of bridge structures.
