Washington, April 23 /Xinhua/ — US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that “there is no timeframe” for ending the American-Israeli war with Iran.
“No pressure from time” regarding the extension of the ceasefire regime or upcoming new peace negotiations, D. Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
“They say that I want to end this /conflict/ because of the midterm elections, this is not true,” Trump noted. Initially, he stated that the war would last from four to six weeks.
On Tuesday, D. Trump stated that he would extend the two-week ceasefire, which expires on Wednesday evening, to give Iran more time to prepare a unified proposal for further negotiations.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Wednesday that D. Trump did not set a deadline for receiving Iran’s proposal. “In the final analysis, the deadlines will be dictated by the commander-in-chief,” she said.
D. Trump may extend the ceasefire with Iran for another three to five days, American news portal Axios reported on Wednesday citing three American officials.
As reported, the commander of the Corps of Guardians of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Ahmad Vahidi, and his deputies denied much of what the Iranian negotiators discussed during the first round of American-Iranian negotiations in Pakistan at the beginning of this month. –0–
